Library Mission
An integral part of the school, our library provides excellent resources. With many forms of literature to delve in to, our library contains nearly 12,000 books, magazine subscriptions, newspapers, and online websites. Pupils can also borrow from our collection of DVDs and utilise the computers to assist with homework. Our broad range of stock promotes equality, with specialist material designed to help those with special educational needs or disabilities, and those with English as an additional language.
As a Library we endeavour to provide a cultural and community hub; somewhere that pupils can integrate with their peers and start conversations, as well as develop independent study skills. Our four book clubs are places where discussions about books are celebrated.
Through partnerships with departments, pupils can make the most of the opportunities to use the library within lesson time, accessing our vast collection of non-fiction books provided to enrich learning. For continuity, we ensure that the relevant textbooks are ordered and available.
Our library website* and database can be accessed from home**, allowing pupils to search and request books; we invest in popular books if we do not already have them, keeping our stock up to date and interesting.
Through the use of the library, we believe that pupils will gain lifelong information skills, as well as develop a sense of well-being found from reading a book that they enjoy. We strive to ensure pupils reach their full potential; this, we believe, runs parallel to pupils actively engaging in the excellent resource found at the heart of our school.
