Library Policy
To effectively address our mission, we rely on the co-operation of pupils. When a book is borrowed, we trust that it will return on time in the same state. Please see below for the policies of the library:
“How many books can I take, and for how long?”
For pupils in Years 9 – 11, up to 2 books can be taken out.
For those in Years 12 – 13, up to 5 books can be taken out.
The return date across all year groups is 4 weeks from the date of issue.
If a student wishes to have a book for longer than 4 weeks, then they can extend the return date by returning the book to the library and having it re-scanned.
“I haven’t returned my book on time/ I think I’ve lost it. What happens?”
Once a book is late being returned, it is classed as ‘overdue’. In the first instance, a message will be sent to the form tutor. If the book is still not returned, a letter will be sent home. Failure to return the book after this point will mean that the book is considered lost. A bill will then be sent home asking for the cost of a replacement, and the pupil will be unable to take out any more books. Once payment has been made, the book will be taken off of the account, and the pupil will be able to borrow books again.
“The book I’m returning is damaged. What happens?”
In the event that a book is damaged, we will always endeavour to try and fix it. If the book is irreparable, then a bill will be sent home asking for the cost of a replacement. Once payment has been made, the book will be taken off of the account. Whilst the damage may not be deliberate, the library strives to keep stock at a good level for all pupils to access; we thank you in advance for your co-operation.
GDPR Statement
In line with school policy, Softlink, the providers of our library software, comply with GDPR. As a library, we will only keep pupil information for as long as necessary, and as long as the Trust deems appropriate.
If you have any further questions, please contact the school office who will pass on any queries to myself.
Many thanks,
